The Rainbow by LC Simpson Mother sent me a rainbow. The brightest I’ve ever seen. Each color clear and crisp Against an angry blue gray sky. A gift of hope after a violent storm, A message of peace amidst overwhelming grief.
She visited in my dreams To comfort me in my desolation, Beautiful, young and strong As I remembered her long ago, Wrapping me in her arms, Surrounding me with her love.
When I asked for help with Daddy, She sent me the answer. Gently nudging us into a shared experience, Showing me that we are each others greatest comfort. She saved his life and in that, Saved me from another broken heart.
Mother sent me a rainbow, Like a hug from beyond the veil. A promise that she’ll never leave me Alone to cope with this world, A promise that she will be waiting for me No matter how long it takes.
